You Write My Story

Last Sunday afternoon, after nearly three hours on the road with kids and dogs in tow, I leaned over to my husband in church and whispered, “I think I’d like to start blogging again.” His response—either a shrug or a raised eyebrow—was not what I expected. So, I leaned in again. “I’m serious.” This time, he simply said, “Okay.”

Driving three hours to church—that’s a story for another day, another blog.

We’re only four months into the new year, and already, so much has changed. I turned 40. My oldest turned 18. We added another beagle to the family. And we’re moving through a season of unstoppable change.

After 13 years of homeschooling, I finally feel like I understand the kind of homeschool mom I am. Not that I can articulate it just yet—but I know I have more peace with my choices, and I know who I am not.

I SO wanted this post to be about engaging our children with living books, but over the past few days, God has been speaking to me. Every time I try to craft a meaningful introduction that connects to homeschooling, He reminds me of something deeper: He is writing MY story. And my children? They are reading it.

More powerful than any classic book we’ll ever read, our lived experiences—and how we rise to meet adversity—shape who we become.

The title of this post is inspired by the lyrics of You Hold It All Together, performed by Chandler Moore and Maverick City Music. It keeps replaying in my mind, again and again.

He’s holding it all together, writing my story—our story—every step of the way.

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2, KJV)
